Experience & Philosophy

I began practicing yoga in 2010 and was transformed by the mental, physical, and emotional benefits. I received my 200 hour certification in 2013 in Denver, CO from Samadhi Center for Yoga and completed an additional 100 hours of training in Ann Arbor, MI at A2 Yoga in 2017. I trained with David Emerson in North Carolina and received a 20 hour certification in Trauma Sensitive Yoga.

I know from personal experience the impact that yoga can have on a person’s ability to overcome addiction as well as work through physical and mental trauma. I teach a variety of styles including Hatha, Vinyasa, and Restorative with Sound Healing. My classes invite the exploration of organic movement and include pranayama (breath work), mudras, Sanskrit mantras, meditation, and elements of Yoga Nidra.

I encourage anyone that participates in my classes to listen, trust, and honor their bodies, and only move in a way that is nourishing. It is part of my philosophy to be sensitive to the physical and mental needs of anyone that attends my classes.

I have personally struggled with my own mental and physical conditions (including narcolepsy, depression, anxiety, arthritis, sciatica, and a herniated disc in my cervical spine). I feel these misfortunes have only deepened my practice and made me sympathetic to anyone that has faced similar obstacles. I encourage people to focus on progress and tap into what they are capable of rather than focusing on their limitations. I believe everyone holds pain from their past experiences within the body and as a yoga instructor I strive to assist others in releasing that pain. I want to provide a safe space that allows room for positive transformation and growth.

108 Sun Salutations

108 is a significant number in ancient, sacred text such as the Tantras and Upanishads. The number 108 is also significant in astronomy and mathematics. Mala beads, which are used in meditation for counting, also have 108 beads. It is traditional for the practice of 108 sun salutations to be practiced during the change of the seasons for the winter and summer solstice, the spring and fall equinox, as well as for the new year. Practicing 108 sun salutations is a fantastic way to reset the body and mind, encouraging a fresh start and new beginnings. My 108 Sun Salutation classes are split into 4 rounds of 27 with 5 minute breaks between each set. You can expect these classes to last several hours. This is an energetic and intense practice, so it is crucial to trust your body’s wisdom when participating. Some people prefer to visualize the movement while staying seated in meditation, which is an excellent way to partake while simultaneously honoring the body. If for any reason you are unable to join all 108 sun salutations, you are welcome to come for a portion of the class. If that is the case, I encourage you to come to the beginning portion of the class so you have proper instruction.

Join me on New Years Day, lets kick off 2023 with 108 Sun Salutations!

Sound Healing

I also offer private & semi-private sound healing sessions. Sound healing is a practice that uses various instruments including but not limited to gongs, crystal sound bowls, Tibetan sound bowls, steel tongue drums, and tuning forks to create soothing vibrations that relax the body and mind. My 75 minute private or semi-private, sound healing sessions are designed for all levels. These guided sessions combine passive restorative yoga postures with elements of yoga nidra while being accompanied by sound healing instruments.
